APAC is currently seeking submissions from members for the following competitions and initiatives:

 

 

Crescent Beach Black & White Print Competition

It will be held at St Marks Church Hall, 12953 20 Ave.
Surrey on Saturday 26 April 2025 at 7:00pm.  

Images must be submitted to our online gallery by March 23, 2025 for consideration by the selection committee.

You can upload the images to the gallery. You can find it under Organization> Galleries> Outside Competition Adjudication Galleries> 2025 Outside Competition Considerations> 2025 Crescent Beach B&W Print Competition.

You will be contacted If one of your images is chosen and you will have until April 20th, 2025 to get it printed and matted. Please use a black or white mat only with outside dimensions of 16 x 20 inches

Rules for the Competition as received from the organizers:

 

CRESCENT BEACH PHOTO CLUB
2025 Black and White Print Competition Rules
1. Each club may submit up to 6 (six) prints for judging. Only 1 (one) print per member
may be entered. Entries should be brought to the event (St Marks Church Hall, 12953 20 Ave.
Surrey), by a representative from each club by 5.30 pm on Saturday 26 April 2025, and removed
after the event either by the club representative or individual photographers. One club representative
is required to attend.
2. If a photographer is a member of more than one club they may participate in only one
club’s entry. Individual entries will not be accepted.
3. Subject is open, and the choice of the photographer (but inappropriate images will not be accepted).
4. Prints must be black and white. No tinted or toned prints will be accepted. No AI images.
5. Prints may be produced on any type of photographic paper as long as the end
result is black and white, but not printed on non-paper items such as metals.
6. Prints may be displayed in any format such as polytychs, be circular or octagonal
in shape, and have photographic framing of the image as long as the framing is
either black or white.
7. Prints must be 10 x 12 inches or larger, up to 16 x 20 inches maximum.
8. All prints must be thick enough or attached to suitable backing sufficient for them to stand upright
on their own on an easel to be judged. They may be matted with black or white matting as
in previous competitions, but are not required to be.
9. Prints must not be framed or covered with glass, etc. There should be no script on the front of the prints
or the mat. Images should not have won or placed in previous competitions.
10. All entries must have the following information attached to them on the back top right corner:

Club Name & Address..................................................
11. In order to allow the images to be viewed by the audience (and allow us to determine an order
of showing before the event) each club should submit six .jpg files of the print entries by Saturday,

12. The file name must be exactly the same as the title of the print and be 1400 x 1050 or 1050 x 1400
pixels in size (same as for CAPA competitions).
13. Club Print Chairs should inspect their Members submissions to ensure that the prints
comply with the above Rules.

 

APAC 2026 Calendar

APAC is seeking images from the Fraser Valley (anywhere from Langley/ Port Coquitlam to Hope) for our printed 2026 calendar  

Images must be submitted to the online gallery by April 24th, 2025. Please note that when you are providing an image it must be able to fit into the calendar aspect ratio of 8.5x11 inches.

You will be contacted if your image is chosen and you will need to provide a digital version to the organizers that corresponds to the following specifications:

8.75 x 11.25 – the extra .25 inches accommodates bleed in the printing process.

APAC 50th Anniversary Slideshow

For our 50th Anniversary celebration slated for September 2025 we are seeking images from members for our "APAC History" slideshow. We are looking for images of past APAC events, members, activities, groups and the like that help to tell some of the story of our 50 year history. This could be images of posters from events, handbills, photowalks, Seminar images or scans. Scans of any historical documents of anything related to APAC.   

Images must be submitted to the online gallery by August 1st, 2025.

Photography Artwork donations for 50th Anniversary Draw

As part of our 50th Anniversary Celebration there will be a draw for 1 or more Photography artworks. We are looking for your donation(s) to this initiative. Please email Phil Dyer with details of what you might be willing to contribute. 

 

APAC Photography Exhibition @ The Mission Arts Centre

Showcasing the diverse styles and techniques of APAC members, this exhibition will be a display of photography in a variety of mediums.

There will be matted and framed prints, as well as images in acrylic, on aluminum, and on canvas.  
Work must have been created in the past five years and not previously exhibited at the Mission Arts Centre. 

20 – 30 images can be exhibited, depending on the size of the images.  

Photo art cards and matted prints of your images can be displayed at Gallery during the show.  
The photo art cards and matted prints may include your images that are not being exhibited at the show.

All work must be for sale.  The Gallery charges 30% commission on any sale of images or cards.

March 31, 2025 is the deadline for your show of interest.   
Please state the number of images you would like to enter.

April 30, 2025 will be the deadline to commit to entering.  
At that time further details  about images to be entered in the show will be required. Eg. title, size, medium, price, description, etc.

Assigned Topics for 2025/2026 - deadline is April 7th, 2025

It's time to choose our assigned topics for the Sept 2025 - June 2026 time span.  Please email either Phil or Doran at philip-dyer@shaw.ca or Doran@me.com  with your suggestions.  You can have up to three topics.  Please include a descriptive sentence with your topics. We will then compile a list and narrow it down to eliminate duplicates, etc. then we will then put the revised list out for a vote from the membership.  Please note the deadline is April 7th.
