Formed in 1975, the Abbotsford Photo Arts Club grew from the desire of a handful of people to continue to share their experiences and improve their photography. Beside fulfilling a social function, the club’s main objective has always been to help amateur photographers to develop and improve their proficiency. Many people find that a photography club fills a gap between the knowledge they acquire from a course in basic photography and the experience they need to operate independently as fulfilled amateur photographers. We invite new members to join APAC by attending one of our meetings, held on Zoom the first and third Mondays of the month. Other activities include regular monthly Photowalks, special events and more.

Our 50th Anniversary Exhibition and Special Event was a roaring success. We organized a spectacular Exhibition of 50 images to commemorate our 50th Anniversary along with a historic slideshow and an abundant vintage camera display populated with a huge variety of cameras plumbed from the depths of our members’ collections as well as an ample medal and awards display that exemplified the storied achievements of our club and our members. The Special Celebration Event on Saturday was tremendously well attended to the point that people had to double park in the Tanglebank Gardens lot. We had warm and inspiring words from our Mayor and members past and present, as well as kind words and a commemorating certificate from CAPA. There was much laughter and memories and snacks and reunions and even some cake to the face! We want to thank everyone that joined us over this very special weekend and every member of the executive for your support and hard work in making our event a rousing success with a special shout out to the organizing committee of Phil Dyer, Betty Johnston, Doreen Jung and Linda Treliving for your energy and enthusiasm and hard work in making the vision a reality. Here’s to another 50 years and beyond!
